New Lands

New Lands is a collaboration with visual artist Antonia Bañados. It consists of 2 parts: a video piece and a series of associated cast glass sculptures. These were exhibited together in 2016 at the Edinburgh College of Art.

It’s an imagined landscape with fictional, mysterious lifeforms, contrasting natural and artificial elements, and the familiar with the bizarre.

New Lands was screened as part of the Inner Nature exhibition at the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern in November 2017, and at the 2017 Arica Nativa Rural Film Festival in Arica, Chile.

Making the sound for this was a treat. Source material was recorded using contact microphones to capture the internal resonances of the glass sculptures being submitted to the wind, sand and sea. Here’s some photos of that process:
